Dobromiła Jaskot (PL) – Skraarg for string octet (first performance)
David Bird (USA) – Drop for string octet and strobe light
Drop is written for string octet, strobe lights, and electronic sounds. The piece explores the dramatic interaction between the ensemble members and the four-foot vertical LED lights positioned between them. It draws inspiration from William Gaddis’s Agapē Agape, which examines the player piano as a precursor to digital technology and a symbol of the growing convergence between art and commerce.
Bozzini Quartet – Quatuor Bozzini has been an original voice and strong advocate in new, experimental and classical music since 1999.Driving the hyper-creative Montréal scene and beyond, the quartet cultivates an ethos of risk-taking, experimentation, and collaboration, venturing boldly off the beaten track. With a rigorous eye for quality, it has nurtured a rich and diverse repertoire, regardless of trends, and leading to a great number of commissions and some500 premiered
works. Its open, collaborative, artist-led approach has resulted in the realization of numerous innovative and highly praised productions, including inter-disciplinary projects with video, theater and dance.
NeoQuartet – one of the most interesting, engaging and action-oriented ensembles of contemporary music in Europe. It is a Prize-Winner of prestigious Pomeranian Artistic Award. The ensemble was also nominated to numerous other prizes (Sztorm Roku, Fryderyki). Quartet has recorded 12 CDs released by Polish, German, Greek,, and American labels.
Since 2017, NeoQuartet expanded its instrumental spectrum with electric midi string violins, viola and cello plus synthesizers and loopers beginning with this purchase new, unique musical phenomenon throughout the world. In 2022 first CD with NeoQuartet’s own compositions was released. String Theory album will chart new musical territories of string quartet development in 21st century.
NeoQuartet consists of: Karolina Piątkowska-Nowicka (1st Violin), Paweł Kapica (2nd Violin), Michał Markiewicz (Viola), and Krzysztof Pawłowski (Cello).
David Bird – a composer, producer, and multimedia artist. His work explores the dramatic potential of electroacoustic and multimedia environments, often highlighting the relationships between technology and the individual. Bird is a founding member of the New York-based chamber ensemble TAK, and frequently collaborates with Qubit New Music, a non-profit group that curates and produces experimental music events in New York City.
