Performers:
Ludzie z Vełny – in 2021, on the initiative of composer and drummer Rafał Gorzycki, the first contemporary music ensemble in Bydgoszcz – Ludzie z Vełny – was established. Its primary purpose is to commission, premiere, perform and promote Polish contemporary music, which the artists forming the group feel is insufficiently supported and presented in our country and abroad.

The ensemble is formed by artists – instrumentalists, composers and sound designers connected with the F. Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz, I.J. Paderewski Pomeranian Philharmonic Orchestra, Toruń Symphony Orchestra and Polish Chamber Music Foundation – ART MINTAKA:

Rafał Gorzycki – drummer, composer. He is an ordinary member of the Polish Composers’ Union, a member of ZAiKS, a member of the Polish Jazz Association – PSJ, a member of the Polish Phonographic Academy – Fryderyki, a member of the Civic Dialogue Committee at the Bydgoszcz Culture Office and the artistic director of the festival of contemporary music – ART MINTAKA.

Before he concenrated on composing in age of 40, he was focused on performing jazz, free-jazz and chamber music. During this time, he recorded 27 original albums of jazz, free-jazz, as well as music from the borderline of contemporary chamber music and improvised music. As a composer, he has scored music for 6 documentaries, feature films and animated films, a monographic composer album: “Utwory Pierwsze”, featuring the String Quartet – Camerata, Mariusz Patyra, Lech Bałaban, Herbert Piano Trio, symphonic, chamber and vocal-instrumental commissions and premieres in Poland, Germany, Norway and USA. He compose symphonic, chamber, vocal-instrumental, solo and electronic music.
