Hände ohne Orte for clarinet, percussion, piano, cello and soundtrack was jointly commissioned by Decoder Ensemble (funded by the Ernst von Siemens Foundation) and the ISCM World Music Days.
Orkiestra Muzyki Nowej – founded in 1996, Orkiestra Muzyki Nowej (Ensemble OMN) is Poland’s leading ensemble for contemporary music. With over 150 world premieres, OMN led by Szymon Bywalec, collaborates with renowned composers and soloists, exploring cutting-edge repertoire. The ensemble regularly performs at prestigious festivals in Poland and abroad, and its recordings have garnered international awards, solidifying its role in shaping the global new music scene.
Filip Huget – is currently the conductor of the Polish Youth Symphony Orchestra in Bytom and the Guest Conductor of the Entertainment Theatre in Chorzów.
He studied symphonic and opera conducting at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice in the class of Professor Szymon Bywalec, at the Latvian Academy of Music in Riga in the class of Professor Andris Vecumnieks and at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in the class of Professor Arvo Volmer.
He has given concerts in Poland, Europe and North America. As a conductor, he has collaborated and given concerts with such orchestras as: the Silesian Chamber Orchestra, the Silesian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, the Rybnik Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, the Karol Szymanowski Academic Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, the Mixed Choir and Symphony Orchestra of the Latvian Academy of Music in Riga. Jazeps Vitols in Riga, EMTA Sinfonietta in Tallinn and the New Music Orchestra.
Stefan Prins – after graduating as an engineer, Stefan Prins (Belgium, 1979) studied composition and music technology at the Royal Flemish Conservatory, Royal Conservatory of Brussels & Royal Conservatory of The Hague and the University of Antwerp. In 2017 he obtained a PhD in composition at Harvard University under the guidance of Chaya Czernowin. He received international awards such as the “Kunstpreis Berlin für Musik”, “Kranichsteiner Musikpreis für Komposition”, “ISCM Young Composers Award” or the “International Impuls Composition Award”. His music is performed worldwide on festivals such as the Donaueschinger Musiktage, Darmstadt Ferienkurse, Wittener Tage für Neue Musik, Eclat, Warsaw Autumn, Ultraschall Berlin, Gaudeamus Festival, Tzlil Meudcan, Impuls Festival, HCMF & Ultima Festival by a.o. Nadar Ensemble, Klangforum Wien, Nikel Ensemble, Trio Accanto, Ensemble Mosaik, MusikFabrik.
His music has been released a.o. on the labels Kairos, Sub Rosa, Wergo and Neos.
Together with Pieter Matthynssens, he is artistic director of the Nadar Ensemble.
Prins performs regularly in the improvised music scene (electronics), is a saught-after teacher and since 2020, appointed professor of composition and director of the Hybrid Music Lab at the Hochschule für Musik “Carl Maria von Weber” Dresden.
