NEO ARTE Synthesizer of Arts is an international festival presenting the most interesting trends in contemporary music and art.

In the latest work, the boundaries between disciplines are increasingly blurred – composers create works on the border of video art, visual artists work with sound, and performance, electronics and multimedia become an integral part of concerts. NeoArte acts like a radar, picking up the latest trends, and like sonar, reaching areas that have not yet been discovered. As an “Art Synthesizer”, it connects artists, ideas and technologies, creating a space for new artistic qualities.
Since its inception, the festival has been a meeting place for different cultures, environments and aesthetics. It inspires collaboration, supports creative experiments, and initiates projects that often go far beyond the event itself. The international cast, world premieres and interdisciplinary nature of the program make NeoArte one of the most important Polish festivals dedicated to contemporary music.
The festival has been held continuously since 2012 in Gdansk, while also organizing its international editions (Oslo 2023, Reykjavik 2024). Its initiator is NeoQuartet – Polish string quartet from Gdansk, the prizewinner of prestigious Pomeranian Artistic Award 2019 and one of the most prominent ensembles in Polish contemporary (and not only!) music.

COMPOSER IN RESIDENCE
The patron of the 15th edition of the festival is the Lithuanian composer Justė Janulytė, one of the most outstanding personalities of contemporary European music. Born in Vilnius and living in Milan for years, the artist has developed a globally recognizable, monochromatic musical language, focusing on the perception of time, space and sound. Her work will be one of the main points of this year’s program
5 DAYS OF CONCERTS, PERFORMANCES AND WORKSHOPS
During the five days of the festival, fifteen concerts, performances and special events will take place. The audience will hear dozens of compositions by artists from all over the world, including eight world premieres. The program will be complemented by composition workshops for young artists led by Justė Janulytė and educational activities for children and young people, bringing the world of music and contemporary art closer.
The hosts of the festival – NeoQuartet – will present several premiere projects, performing new compositions by artists from Polish, USA, Iran, South Korea and Finland, and presenting a multimedia production prepared together with Dominik Strycharski.
INNOVATION, INTERMEDIALITY, INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS
Most of the events are planned as interdisciplinary projects, combining music with video, electronics, performance and new media, often involving the audience as a participant in the creative process. Among the foreign guests of the festival will be Helsinki Chamber Choir, Via Nova Ensemble, Cello Club, Marko Ciciliani, Arturas Bumšteinas, Platons Buravickis and Quartetto Maurice. Poland will be represented by the Hashtag Ensemble, Kompopolex, Sepia Ensemble, Silesian Quartet and Royal String Quartet.
STEVE REICH AND THE FOUR QUARTETS FOR THE FINALE
The culmination of the jubilee edition will be a unique concert dedicated to Steve Reich’s 90th birthday. Four leading European string quartets will perform his most important compositions together, creating one of the most unique events of this year’s festival.
The 15th edition of NeoArte – Art Synthesizer will once again become a meeting place for the most important phenomena of contemporary music and art – a space for dialogue, experimentation and creative synthesis, where new ideas and international artistic collaborations are born.
